HIPNOTIC is a vibrant, expressive dance instructor programme from FET Academy, bringing together the foundations of belly dance with modern choreography, musical interpretation and confident performance.

More than simply learning choreography, HIPNOTIC explores the connection between music, movement, body awareness and individual expression, giving participants the skills to move with greater control, confidence and creativity.

Throughout this highly practical programme, you will develop the fundamental techniques of belly dance, including movement isolation, shimmies, hip movements, circles, waves, arm and hand positioning, transitions and expressive choreography.

You will also learn how traditional belly dance accessories can be incorporated into performance, developing practical skills using the shawl and veil, cane (Saidi/Assaya) and zills (finger cymbals).

A key part of HIPNOTIC is developing your relationship with music. You will explore Arabic rhythms, musical interpretation, timing and energy, learning how movement and choreography can respond naturally to changes within the music.

The programme also develops the performance skills that transform movement into an experience, including stage presence, facial and physical expression, audience connection and performance confidence.

HIPNOTIC places a strong emphasis on practical application. Throughout the course you will:

• Learn and perform complete dance routines
• Develop movement isolation and body control
• Practise choreography and transitions
• Work with shawls, canes and zills
• Develop musicality and rhythmic awareness
• Perform individually and within a group
• Explore choreography design and music selection
• Develop confidence, expression and stage presence
• Review and analyse performances to support continued development

Who Is HIPNOTIC For?

HIPNOTIC is suitable for aspiring and existing dance and group exercise instructors, recreational and professional dancers, and anyone wanting to explore belly dance, movement and physical expression.

No previous belly dance experience is required.

Whether your goal is to teach, perform or simply discover a completely new way to move, HIPNOTIC provides a supportive environment in which to learn, practise and develop.

Assessment & Certification

Participants are assessed through practical performance, including their ability to demonstrate choreography, musical awareness, movement quality and the effective use of dance accessories.
